GENERAL INFORMATION FOR MISSION CREEK LODGE, ALASKA Located in the heart of the Bristol Bay region of southwest Alaska, we are within easy flying distance to the finest waters in the state. Depending on the week we target five species of Pacific Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling, Lake Trout and Northern Pike and most any combination thereof.

If you and your group are interested in a first class luxury experience, without comprising great fishing, this may well be your kind of place.

Their goal is to utilize the various fisheries while they are in their prime. To do this they fly you and your group out to different rivers and streams depending on the species that you are interested in. Each evening prior, they confer with you to see what kind of experience you are up for. The guides will then get the necessary gear put together in the tackle room (which doubles as a great story telling hang out).

The next morning after breakfast you board one of the float planes and head out with a guide (or to a spike camp with a guide waiting) to one of the many world class, and in some cases world famous, rivers and streams of our region. Depending on the location they will have jet boats to take up and down the river to fish from or get you to different gravel bars for wading.

Because of a short growing season, all native species must be released, no exceptions. With the advent of graphite mounting techniques, there is even no reason to keep trophy fish. If you are interested in taking back some salmon, your guide will fillet or steak them, vacuum pack them in suitable portions and freeze them. Upon your departure your catch will be put into an airline-approved waxed fish box for the trip home.

We understand you come up here to fish, so on those nasty weather days that we will not or cannot fly (because of our location they average less than four days a season), we have some trout and salmon fisheries close to the lodge that can be reached by boat.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES AT MISSION CREEK LODGE, ALASKA

Sometimes guests just spend the day flying the area just for the spectacular views and exciting wildlife. The most popular flight seeing trip is known as the 'Lake-Hop'. Just like the title implies, you will fly from lake to lake, stopping to explore the beaches, fish some of the inlets and even venture into an ice cave.

If you feel like a little hiking exercise, you can explore the abandoned mine on Marsh Mountain. The mining road will first lead you through fairly flat tundra terrain and then up the the pass through a short but steep uphill hike. From the pass you can either continue to the actual mine, or continue up the mountain to the west. You will be rewarded with an abundance of mountain wildflowers, (especially in June and July) and a good view of the beautiful surroundings.
